Growing Gourmets: Cooking Camps for Teens

Growing Gourmets: Cooking Camps for Teens

Growing Gourmets are our cooking camps for teens that we run in the school holidays: hands-on cooking camps for 11 to 17 year olds in our Blackrock kitchen. Juniors are 11 to 14, Seniors 14 to 17, and no experience is needed.

Camps run at Easter, at the October and February mid-terms, and right across the summer — including two-day baking and Japanese camps. Pick a camp below for dates and prices.

Common Questions

  • Where can tweens and teens learn to cook in Dublin?
  • Dublin Cookery School runs Growing Gourmets cooking camps for 11 to 17 year olds at our Blackrock kitchen, 15 minutes from Dublin city centre. Camps run in the school holidays — summer, Easter, and the October and February mid-terms — with Juniors sessions for ages 11 to 14 and Seniors for 14 to 17. No experience is needed. Dates and prices are on each camp's own page.

  • What age do you need to be for Growing Gourmets?
  • Juniors are 11 to 14 and Seniors are 14 to 17.
  • Do you run cooking classes for children under 11?
  • No — our camps start at age 11.

  • What's the difference between Juniors and Seniors?
  • Just the age. Juniors are 11 to 14, Seniors 14 to 17 — same kitchen, same chefs, same kind of cooking.

  • Should a 14-year-old book Juniors or Seniors?

  • Either — 14 is the one age that sits in both bands. Pick whichever suits your dates and what they'd prefer. No experience is needed for either.

  • When do the camps run?
  • In the school holidays — summer, Easter, and the October and February mid-terms.

  • Do they need any cooking experience?
  • No. No experience is needed for any of our camps — everything is taught on the day, and beginners are welcome on every one.

  • Do they bring home what they cook?
  • Mostly they eat it — that's part of the day. The baking camp is the exception: two days of baking makes more than they can get through, so a good bit comes home.
